Reverend Dorothy Straks

650-530-2161

Dorothy was born and raised as a Midwest farm girl who often dreamed of someday living in the big city

When choosing a career path for college Dorothy looked to the education track and taught public school for many years. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa for two years and then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri to complete her bachelor's degree in education.

Once she realized that God was calling her to the ordained ministry she began a six-year journey to complete her Master of Arts in Theology and Worship Arts at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul). She was ordained by Bishop Mel Talbert here in California in 1997 and is a member of the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

She and Jerry have two grown children. She enjoys hiking, biking, camping, reading, gardening, sewing, and corresponding with the many friends she's made across the country.

Nancy Riewerts
Secretary

Nancy is a lifetime resident of Redwood City and a member of WVC for 16 years. She feels right at home in her new position of Office Assistant. She has worn many hats, including being an ordained deacon since 2007 at the church so this progression seemed natural for her.

She lives in Redwood City with her husband Jack and her son Spencer (the loves of life) and their cat Tobe. When she is not at the church she likes to cook, watch movies and pursue "crafty" projects.

Even though you know her stop by the office and say "Hi".
