Music Ministry

The center of the music program at Woodside Village Church is the Sanctuary Choir. This group, whose members are of diverse ages, leads worship every Sunday, September through June, with anthems of varying styles, and a range of worship songs, including chant from the Renaissance period to traditional hymns, to spiritual songs of the current Christian music period. We invite people from high school age through senior adults to join us for rehearsal in the sanctuary on Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00.

We are also blessed to have a three-octave set of Malmark handchimes, played by a choir of eleven ringers. We still need ringers to fill some of our positions. The handchime choir requires great commitment since notes are left unplayed when a ringer is missing. However, the rewards are very great — to know that without you a piece of music is incomplete. The Handchime Choir rehearses from 6:15 – 7:15 on Thursday evenings.

Requirements for either choir? A desire to sing or ring, make music to the glory of God! You DO NOT need to know how to read music, we can teach you that. If you have questions or want more information, please call our Minister of Music, Dorothy Straks, at 650-530-2161 or send an email: dorothys@wvchurch.org. She would be delighted to talk with you.

Our worship is accompanied by a variety of instruments: our beautiful Moeller organ, piano, electric keyboard, brass ensemble, flute, oboe, and handchimes, whatever will enhance the choir anthems and worship music for the day. If you have instrumental gifts you wish to share with us, please contact Minister of Music, Dorothy Straks, at 650-530-2161 or dorothys@wvchurch.org.
